ABOUT THE CURATOR
 
Emily Rustanto is a curator with a background in science, humanities and performing arts. She trained in Ethnomusicology at the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Yogyakarta, Central Java and performs Indonesian music. Her curating interests lie with the abstract, the intangible, and the intersection between art and artefact.

Cipi Prasetya

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cipi is from Malang, East Java. She studied a Bachelor of Music at the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Yogyakarta (Central Java) and has performed with various bands and music ensembles in cities across Java. Currently she works as a freelance event organiser and teaches percussion to children and young people. Part of her teaching practice involves working with music students with special needs such as Down Syndrome:

Pularso Dorojati (Apoel)

 

Apoel graduated from the Indonesian Institute of Arts in Yogyakarta in 2012 from a Bachelor of Ethnomusicology, which is the study of music and culture. He specialised in the music of the Banyumas region, which is located in western Central Java. Banyumas culture is unique in that it is a blending of the Sundanese (west Java) and Javanese cultures. Apoel is also interested in studying other forms of traditional culture.

Syarif Hidayatullah (aka ‘Rif Dirtyblues’)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rif is a musician and visual artist from Bima on the island of Sumbawa.

Uyau Moris

 

Uyau Moris is a musician and sape’ maker of Dayak Kenyah Uma Lung heritage from North Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). He is a prolific music maker, with over 200 videos posted online.
